Joe began racing in an F4 car, driven by purpose — and fast.
Watch the video below as Joe tells his rather unusual story of entering the F4 Series at age 19 in 2020 as a rookie from a racing family.
Background
Joe entered the F4 Series at age 19 in 2020 as a rookie from a racing family. Joe’s dad, Robert Ostholthoff, was a Porsche Driving Instructor, Porsche Club President of the Chicagoland Region, and raced SCCA. After Bob died in 2017 when Joe was 15 (ending a three-year battle with cancer), Joe decided to pursue a career in racing. He formalized this “on the Road to Indy Car” by joining Jay Howard Driver Development F4 team in 2021. With Blake Koch, a 12-year NASCAR veteran, making the introductions and managing Joe’s career moves, he launched into the field.
Going Forward
The road ahead for me is wide open, and I’m ready to take it where a team or sponsor takes me. I am in pursuit of jumping onto a team, continuing to exceed expectations in terms of speed and fine-tuning my skills with expert engineers and leadership so that I win races. I’m ready to work hard for my goals and not look back. It will take two years of funding to get me in the car again because I've learned the hard way - that’s what it will take to keep my eyes on the road, focused on driving - and driving fast, steady, and fearlessly.
I’m looking for a team to join that offers a mutually beneficial ride and a sponsor who believes in the power of purposeful living, perseverance, and resilience on and off the track to make it all happen. Learn how you can join our team here.
